Traditional Background
Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum, also known as Ocimum tenuiflorum) is one of the most sacred herbs in Ayurvedic tradition, revered in India as “The Incomparable One.”
Commonly called Holy Basil, it is often referred to as “Queen of Herbs,” “Elixir of Life,” or “The Mother Medicine of Nature.”
In Hindu culture, Tulsi is worshipped as an earthly manifestation of the goddess Lakshmi, symbolising purity, protection, and healing. It has been cultivated near homes and temples for thousands of years as both a spiritual guardian and a powerful herbal remedy.
